With schools across the country implementing remote learning programs, questions have been raised about how to provide online education in an equitable and safe manner.
Not all children have access to learning devices at home. Some homes may have one laptop to share with siblings, other none at all. The result is that many children run the risk of being left behind in a remote learning environment.
The Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP) took swift action to address equitable learning opportunities by deciding to send school-owned devices home to help ensure all students have access to online learning. Recognising the importance of those devices remaining safe and protected, the Diocese has partnered with Family Zone to roll out cyber safety.
The partnership provides protection for students that are currently remote learning using devices supplied by one of the 80 schools that fall within the Parramatta Diocese. Parents also have the option to use Family Zone on the students’ devices at no cost, providing much-needed peace of mind during a challenging time for schools and families.
