Lesson 5
Filtering - Effective use of Reports and Alerts

In this lesson, we feature one of your most helpful and valuable tools - Reports and Alerts.

You might recall from your initial training session that we give you the ability to receive weekly Wellbeing emailed reports with a summary of the most relevant data relating to your student's online activity. In addition, you can receive immediate email alerts across eight key areas of potential risk (these cover student searches and content views for Red Alert areas such as Suicide, Depression, Substance Abuse etc); providing you with an opportunity to address potential student welfare concerns in a timely manner.

It's important to remember that given the sheer amount of content available on the internet that 'false positives' can occur. This means that at times it can be difficult to distinguish between a search relating to an academic text (e.g. a Shakespearean tragedy) and an actual cry for help from a student red-flagged as 'depression' (for example). Remember, the platform errs on the side of caution to ensure we highlight any potential risks when it comes to student internet searches while at school.
