Filtering - Rules and Content Filtering

Your School Manager’s Filtering Rules are a vital part of your Cyber Safety platform, successfully applying allow and block rules to ensure students are viewing online content that enables learning while minimising distraction. We encourage wellbeing staff to work collaboratively with your school IT teams to review and tweak your school web filtering rules; ensuring these rules are configured to optimise and enable effective student learning.

In this final lesson, we’re giving you the inside scoop around how these rules are created and applied to ensure your school is meeting its duty of care while empowering students to explore the Internet safely in order to access appropriate learning resources. We demonstrate how applying consequences to inappropriate student online activity (e.g. repeated attempts to use VPNs) can help steer and positively influence students in their online development long term.
